Sea Guardian reads data from the Victron VRM portal and classifies each sensor by the name given to it in the GX device console. With this chart, your installer gets the boat ready and everything shows up by itself when you create the account.

1 · Wire and name

The installer wires senders and sensors to the Cerbo GX and gives them the right name in Remote Console → Settings → I/O.

2 · Check in VRM

If the value shows in vrm.victronenergy.com, it is ready. Sea Guardian needs nothing else on board.

3 · Create the account

When you paste the VRM token, the sensors appear automatically classified in the dashboard. See token guide →

How to generate your VRM access token

The token is the read-only key that lets Sea Guardian see your boats' data in the Victron VRM portal. You generate it once and can revoke it at any time.

Sign in to the VRM portal

Go to vrm.victronenergy.com with your Victron username and password — the same account where you see your installations.

Open your preferences

Click your name (top right) and choose Preferences / Preferencias.

Integrations → Access tokens

In the side menu open Integrations → Access tokens and press Add / Generar nuevo token.

Name it and copy it

Give it a recognisable name (e.g. Sea Guardian) and press create. Copy the token right away: for security, VRM only shows it once.

Paste it into Sea Guardian

In your Sea Guardian dashboard → Settings → VRM token, paste the token and save. Within a minute you will see your installations and can mark which ones are boats.

🔒 The token only allows read data. Sea Guardian never changes your equipment's configuration and you can revoke it from VRM at any time.

What equipment do I need on board? ▾

Any Victron GX device (Cerbo GX, Color Control GX, Venus GX...) connected to the internet and registered in the VRM portal. If you can already see your boat in VRM, Sea Guardian works with nothing else to install. Sensors connected to the GX (SmartShunt, MPPT, tank senders, GPS) appear automatically. How do I set up my Cerbo GX? ▾

1. Conecta el Cerbo a internet (WiFi, Ethernet o router 4G del barco).

2. En la pantalla del Cerbo: Ajustes → Portal VRM → activa el registro y anota el ID del portal.

3. Create your account en vrm.victronenergy.com y añade la instalación con ese ID.

4. En VRM genera un token de acceso — guía paso a paso aquí — y pégalo en Sea Guardian.

How often is the data updated? ▾

The dashboard refreshes every minute and history is logged every 5 minutes. Map position updates live. Alerts are evaluated every 15 minutes, 24/7.

Is my data safe? ▾

Yes. Encrypted connection (HTTPS), each fleet isolated in its own account, and the VRM token is only used to read data — Sea Guardian never changes your equipment's configuration. You can revoke the token from VRM at any time.

Can I change plans or cancel? ▾

Any time, with no lock-in. Move up or down a pack with the season — very handy if your charter fleet changes between winter and summer.

My boat has no Victron gear — is this for me? ▾

For now Sea Guardian requires a Victron GX device. If you are considering installing one, at FVComponentes we can advise you on the right kit for your boat (from ~€300 with GPS included).
